Tripset

UX Design

This project was part of the capstone project for General Assembly - User Experience Design Immersive course.

Project Overview
Tripset is a platform that will help travelers plan their trips more quickly and efficiently while organizing all their trip details in one place.

PIVOT: The Problem
The original problem I suspected was that travelers didn't have an easy way to share their itinerary with friends. However, after talking to users, it became more apparent that people didn't have any easy way to plan and organize their research in order to create their itinerary.

They often get a lot of recommendations, but when it's time to plan and build their trip, there's no good way to do so.
User Interviews
User Research
Demographics:
Spoke to participants who travel 2 or more times a year and always pre-plan their trips.

What do we want to know?
How do they plan travel? Behaviors
How do they feel about trip planning? Emotions
Why do they plan travel? Motivations
What resources do they wish they have? Needs

"“It would be great if there was a place where I can put everything where it looks pretty and organized."

Research Synthesis
User Research
We learned that… They use basic tools like Word and Excel to compile all their trip research because it’s simple. They wished there was something that can make their life easier, but also have one place to organize and plan travel.
Problem Statement

Passionate travelers need a simple way to organize & plan travel in one place so that they can save time and focus on enjoying the trip.

MVP
What are we trying to solve?
Tripset app fills the gap that our competitors lack; our focus is on simplicity.

Tripset
Building a itinerary is simple

TripAdvisor
Itinerary is not intuitive

Google Trips
No timeline itinerary

We allow you to plan and organize trip reservations details and build a timeline itinerary in one place but also making it simple and easy.
Testing Recap
What went well
“Makes sense. It’s seems easy and simple to use. I like the clean interface.”

What didn’t work
“Home and Dashboard sounds like they could be one thing.”

“I wouldn’t think to search immediately or create a trip. I would go to Discover section to see what’s available first.”
Revised: Default screen to Discover Screen.

Users felt like asking for an email address in the forefront is asking too much since they haven't explored the app yet.
Revised: An account is now only required when adding a trip.
Lessons Learned
User Research
Don't assume you are the user and know what they want. Based on user interviews, I learned that users have very different motivations and goals than myself.

Always test early and often. We uncovered a lot of valuable insights during the user testing phase in which we carried over in the design phase.
